AMEC and also the Houston County Health Care Authority, the operator of Southeast Alabama middle (SAMC), determined that it might be possible for the state to develop its own school of osteopathic medication to handle the shortage of medical care physicians within the state. Thus, the Alabama school of Osteopathic medication (ACOM), a non-profit, personal establishment, was established in May 2010.
